Te Horetā Te Taniwha (c. 1757 – 21 November 1853) was a notable New Zealand tribal leader. Of Māori descent, he identified with the Ngati Whanaunga iwi.
In November 1769, as a young boy, he witnessed HMS Endeavour, captained by James Cook, arrive in Mercury Bay.
In 1840 Te Horeta was a signatory of the Treaty of Waitangi.
He died at Coromandel Harbour on 21 November 1853. Tukumana Te Taniwha was his grandson.
