Variety called it "hardly worth the effort".

The Montreal Star called it "an experiment not completely successful but wonderfully exciting all the same."

The Chicago Reader wrote "all plays have been skilfully shortened and given the proper mood by director Sidney Lumet and are beautifully performed."
