Market in Turkey for greenhouse gas emissions

The Turkish Emissions Trading System is the draft carbon emission trading system of Turkey, which is supposed to start in 2025, with a pilot phase including industries such as cement, before the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism starts charging in 2026. The implementation phase is due to run from 2027 to 2034. As of 2024 the system is awaiting approval in parliament and it has not yet been decided whether the country will join the Cooperative Mechanisms under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
