It borders the northern part of the northern coastal plain in the west, the Golan Heights in the east, and southern Lebanon in the north.
history
The border line between Israel and Lebanon was determined according to the armistice agreement with Lebanon, one of the armistice agreements at the end of the 1948 Arab–Israeli War, which was signed on March 29, 1949. The IDF evacuated the 14 villages it had occupied in the territory of Lebanon up to the Litani River, and the Lebanese army evacuated Rosh HaNikra. The border was established on the former Mandatory Palestine-Lebanon border. It became Israel's armistice line with Lebanon, as part of the Green Line. The re-marking of the line was completed on January 18, 1951. As a result of the Six Day War, Israel's borders with Egypt, Jordan and Syria did changed, but The northern border with Lebanon remained still, but it was lengthened at its eastern end, as a result of the occupation of the Golan Heights. During the Second Lebanon War, Israel also recaptured the village of Ghajar, whose residents became Israeli citizens, Despite being located in the territory of Lebanon, from which Israel withdrew in the year 2000. In the second decade of the 21st century, the IDF fortified areas on the northern border, using reinforced concrete slabs, earthen embankments, protected towers and upgrading the border fence, in order to prevent Hezbollah from attacking settlements near the border As of 2018, there are still 13 points where the border is disputed between Israel, Lebanon and Hezbollah.
