Haruyo Yamaguchi（Japanese: 山口陽世 ,Hepburn: Yamaguchi Haruyo, born February 23, 2004) is a Japanese singer and actress. She is a member of the Japanese female idol group Hinatazaka46.

Early life

Yamaguchi was born in Tottori prefecture and lived there until she was in the middle of her first school year at high school. She has three older brothers, a older sister and a twin younger sister.

Honoka Hirao, a fourth-generation member of Hinatazaka46, is a high school classmate at her previous school in Tottori.

Career

Music

Sakamichi trainee

On August 19, 2018, Yamaguchi passed the auditions for Sakamichi Series. While more than 20 people were assigned to Nogizaka46, Keyakizaka46, or Hiragana Keyakizaka46 (the predecessor of Hinatazaka46), she was not assigned to any groups within the series. She was told by a manager of the series that she could either choose to become a Sakamichi trainee or decline the opportunity. She chose to become a Sakamichi trainee and started her journey in the group.

Hinatazaka46

On February 16, 2020, it was announced that Yamaguchi was assigned to Hinatazaka46 and joined as a third-generation member. Her first concert, HINATAZAKA46 Live Online, YES! with YOU!, occurred on 31 July of the same year. She made her debut with the group's first album, "Hinatazaka" (the lead track: "Azato Kawaii"), released on September 23, 2020.

Yamaguchi was selected to hold the center (lead performer) position in the song "Gaufre to Kimi" on the group's seventh single, "Boku Nanka," released on June 1, 2022.

Other ventures

Yamaguchi used to play baseball when she was in elementary school, specifically in the position of a Right fielder. As a result, she collaborated with Alex Ramírez, a Japanese former professional baseball outfielder, in her promotion video and also on his YouTube channel. Additionally, she was invited by the Yokohama DeNA BayStars, a Japanese professional baseball team, to throw the first pitches for Nippon Life Interleague Play held in 2022 and 2023.

Personal life

Yamaguchi is often called Paru or Pruyo, her nickname.

She is a fan of Inori Minase, a voice actress. She frequently attends her concerts and events. She also likes idols and has collection of merchandise from various idol groups, such as Nogizaka46 and Keyakizaka46.

She enjoys games, anime, and manga.
