Order of August First is a military decoration of People's Republic of China awarded by the Chairman of the Central Military Commission, and is the highest military award given to the Chinese military member i.e. servicemen and civilians of the People's Liberation Army, People's Armed Police and public security active troops.
History
Establishment of the Order of August First is approved by the chairman of the CMC, Xi Jinping on June 12 2017. The new Order of August First is awarded to military personnel who have meritorious service in upholding sovereignty, security and development interests of the state, and promoting the modernization of national defense and the armed forces by the chairman of CMC.
On July 2017, Xi signed the order for the first awarding Order of August First to 10 comrades including Mai Dexian. The ceremony of the awarding of Order of August First is held on July 28 2017, Xi awarded the orders and certificates to the gainers.
Appearance
According to the official introduction, the design of Order of August First contains the emblem of PLA, five-pointed star, sword, flag, radiance and the Great Wall. The emblem of PLA upon the star represents the PLA is the offspring of the Red Army, as well as the highest military award; Five sword is in concert with
