Hazel the Nut is a pop punk band from Großlangheim, Germany. They're former cover band called Applejuice.

Band history

The band was founded in the spring of 2012, and soon started to produce their first songs in a studio close to Würzburg, Germany. In the same year they released their first EP which included 4 songs. They opened for the band Swingin’ Utters in Würzburg in the summer of 2013.

In August of the same year, they released their first album called Welcome to Hazeltown. At the beginning of January 2015, they produced their first music video for the song "Oh Shit". The video was shot at the well-known Club Ludwig and the Bürgerbräu building in Würzburg

In August 2015, the band was voted Band of the Year of northern Bavaria. This was a competition sponsored by the Franconian newspaper Main-Post and the music store Thomann in Burgebrach . Also in 2015, they opened for Manfred Mann’s Earth Band in Schweinfurt

In the autmn of 2015, they opened for The Offenders in Bamberg. They also participated in a band exchange with Sweden. They traveled to Umeå, Sweden and performed together with Swedish bands in various venues. Some weeks after that, the Swedish bands traveled to Würzburg where they performed with Hazel the Nut on a German stage. This exchange program was sponsored by the European Union

They released their second album, Love Me Or Hate Me, in June 2016 with the help of a crowdfunding platform . Collaborating with other artists, the band performed one song with a children‘s choir, and another featuring Swedish performer, Magda Andersson. They produced their record in the Jam-Productions studio in Würzburg. Artwork for this record was created by Stefan Beham, a popular Austrian designer, who also created work for The Offspring, Sum 41 and Zebrahead .

Hazel the Nut performed before a crowd of 9,000 fans as openers for the German band SDP. This was organized by Radio Gong a popular Franconian radio station. 

They played alongside with Namika and Wincent Weiss in 2016 on a newcomer festival in Würzburg, Germany.

In the beginning of 2017, Christopher Wagner left the band for work-related reasons. His role as bass player has been filled by Felix Thüncher. In summer of 2017 they were opener of the german band Madsen at the Ab geht die Lutzi festival in Rottershausen, Germany . Where also the german band Itchy was one of the headliners.
