Hello, from the Portals WikiProject...
You are invited to join the effort to revitalize and improve the Portal system...
The Portals WikiProject was rebooted on April 17th, and is going strong. Fifty-nine editors have joined so far, with more joining daily.
We're having a blast, and excitement is high...
Our goal is to update, upgrade, and maintain portals.
In addition to working directly on portals, we are developing tools to make portals more dynamic (self-updating), and to make building and maintaining portals easier. We've finished two tools so far, with more to come. They are Template:Transclude lead excerpt and Template:Transclude random excerpt.
Discussions are underway about how to further upgrade portals, and what the portals of the future will be.
There are plenty of tasks (including WikiGnome tasks too).
With more to come.
We may even surprise ourselves and exceed all expectations. Who knows what we will be able to accomplish in what may become the biggest Wikicollaboration in years.
See ya at the WikiProject!
Sincerely, — The Transhumanist 23:48, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
Thank you very much
The RfC discussion to eliminate portals was closed May 12, with the statement "There exists a strong consensus against deleting or even deprecating portals at this time." This was made possible because you and others came to the rescue. Thank you for speaking up.
By the way, the current issue of the Signpost features an article with interviews about the RfC and the Portals WikiProject.
I'd also like to let you know that the Portals WikiProject is working hard to make sure your support of portals was not in vain. Toward that end, we have been working diligently to innovate portals, while building, updating, upgrading, and maintaining them. The project has grown to 80 members so far, and has become a beehive of activity.
Our two main goals at this time are to automate portals (in terms of refreshing, rotating, and selecting content), and to develop a one-page model in order to make obsolete and eliminate most of the 150,000 subpages from the portal namespace by migrating their functions to the portal base pages, using technologies such as selective transclusion. Please feel free to join in on any of the many threads of development at the WikiProject's talk page, or just stop by to see how we are doing. If you have any questions about portals or portal development, that is the best place to ask them.
If you would like to keep abreast of developments on portals, keep in mind that the project's members receive updates on their talk pages. The updates are also posted here, for your convenience.
Again, we can't thank you enough for your support of portals, and we hope to make you proud of your decision. Sincerely, — The Transhumanist 18:07, 26 May 2018 (UTC)
P.S.: if you reply to this message, please {{ping}} me. Thank you. -TT
Non-free rationale for File:Wildfirerevolt.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Wildfirerevolt.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Misplaced Pages is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 18:56, 13 June 2018 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Lava organization
Hello Épine,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Lava organization for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Speedy deletion declined: Friðarbogin
Hello Épine. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Friðarbogin, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: being the first organization of its kind indicates significance, plus LGBT rights in the Faroe Islands is a suitable merge target per WP:ATD-M. Thank you. SoWhy 07:38, 16 August 2018 (UTC)
- @SoWhy: if this page can stay because of the reason you stated, so could have Lava organization before @RHaworth: teamed up with the person who nominated it for deletion to delete it. the article was nominated under A7 because the nominator thought sources were unreliable while under A7 it clearly states that the reliability of sources doesn’t mean the article qualify for deletion under that criterion. @RHaworth: has deleted the page even though there was an ongoing discussion on the talk page about why the page doesn’t qualify for deletion under the stated license (where you were evidently mentioned, but chose to ignore it). There is literally a warning on deletion tags when talk pages exist alerting admins not to delete without checking them first, but apperantly the admin who decided that the article was not enough to stay didn’t check it, and now I’m wondering if all the admins on the English Misplaced Pages are illiterate and cynical. --▸ épine talk♬ 01:45, 7 September 2018 (UTC)
- If other administrators make mistakes, please take it up with them. However, your example is a poor one, as Lava organization contained no claims that the subject is significant in any way. For example while Friðarbogin was the first such organization in the country, Lava was the third. But being the first of its kind is a claim of significance. Being the Xth of its kind usually isn't. Kind of like being the first to climb Mount Everest made Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay notable. Instead of assuming any kind of conspiracy or bad faith against you, find reliable sources and recreate it. Regards SoWhy 07:14, 7 September 2018 (UTC)
File:Lavaorg.png
Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Misplaced Pages non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Misplaced Pages talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:10, 16 August 2018 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Lavaorg.png
Thanks for uploading File:Lavaorg.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Misplaced Pages (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:21, 19 August 2018 (UTC)
Wild Fire (band)
Hello:
The copy edit you requested from the Guild of Copy Editors of the article Wild Fire (band) has been completed.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Regards,
Twofingered Typist (talk) 18:58, 31 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Twofingered Typist: Thank you, but in the final paragraph of the article you write “On March 29, 2018, Wild Fire announced in a Facebook post about an upcoming acoustic record that Taylor Roberts would be leaving the band.” which, to be honest, doesn’t make much sense to me.--▸ épine talk♬ 08:02, 1 September 2018 (UTC)
Villain (Wild Fire song) moved to draftspace
(non-admin closure)The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
An article you recently created, Villain (Wild Fire song), does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Misplaced Pages). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Misplaced Pages's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. - @AngusWOOF: damn, you didn’t even give me a chance to breathe.--▸ épine talk♬ 18:39, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
- Can you add some suitable charts then for the song? Having it record a number of views/listens on streaming doesn't really help it along. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 18:41, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
- @AngusWOOF: Media Base Rock Charts, it peaked there, but not sure about anywhere else right now. I’m searching the web though. What exactly can I do to bring it back? Will more sources help or is it because of something else that you moved it to draft?--▸ épine talk♬ 18:45, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
- How about some Billboard charting? Also reception as a single by notable music websites? AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 18:46, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
- @AngusWOOF: I don’t think it got so popular to find itself of Billboard charts, it’s not pop you know. The band is really new so it’s kinda hard to find more sources but I keep trying, I wish my access to internet wasn’t limited. Can you please help? :)--▸ épine talk♬ 18:49, 18 October 2018 (UTC)

Your submission at Articles for creation: Villain (Wild Fire song) (October 18)
Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed! Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by AngusWOOF was: This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Misplaced Pages article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject. Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Misplaced Pages. The comment the reviewer left was: Still needs to meet notability as an independent song. WP:NSONG Please provide reception that focuses on this song. Also structure the article to various sections, one for the music video. Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit when they have been resolved.- If you would like to continue working on the submission, go to Draft:Villain (Wild Fire song) and click on the "Edit" tab at the top of the window.
- If you now believe the draft cannot meet Misplaced Pages's standards or do not wish to progress it further, you may request deletion. Please go to Draft:Villain (Wild Fire song), click on the "Edit" tab at the top of the window, add "{{db-self}}" at the top of the draft text and click the blue "publish changes" button to save this edit.
- If you need any assistance, you can ask for help at the Articles for creation help desk or on the reviewer's talk page.
- You can also use Misplaced Pages's real-time chat help from experienced editors.
- @AngusWOOF: delete the draft. I mixed it with the album article.--▸ épine talk♬ 08:05, 19 October 2018 (UTC)

The reply-link newsletter, issue 1
Hi! Welcome to the new reply-link newsletter, which I made because the ol' list on the reply-link talk page was unwieldy. In case you haven't been following development recently, I've sent out some new updates that should let it reply basically anywhere, even in transcluded pages or under hatted discussions (two locations people have been wanting for a while). Reliability has also gone way up, as I've implemented a couple of sanity checks that help prevent the script from responding to the wrong message. Unfortunately, that means the script fails a bit more often. Anyway, try it out if you haven't done so in a while, and let me know what you think! I always appreciate feature requests or bug reports on the talk page. Happy replying! (Signup list/Unsubscribe) MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:23, 30 January 2019 (UTC)
FR30799386's User Scripts
Dear all. Recently, FR30799386 (talk) was blocked for sock puppetry. Among their projects were a number of user scripts that they left behind. I (DannyS712) have copied the scripts, and have taken over maintaining them. You currently import one or more of FR30799386's scripts, and I thought that you might want to import a maintained version. Links to each script are provided below.
