WONN (1230 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station broadcasting a sports radio format. Licensed to Lakeland, Florida, the station is owned by Hall Communications, Inc. WONN carries the full schedule from Fox Sports Radio. It also airs live University of Florida Gators football and Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFL football.

The transmitter is atop the office building where WONN has its studios and offices, on Lime Street at Sikes Boulevard in Lakeland. WONN is powered at 1,000 watts, day and night, using a non-directional antenna. Programming is also heard on 250-watt FM translator W296CS at 107.1 MHz.

History

The station first signed on the air on September 15, 1949; 75 years ago (1949-09-15). In 1981, current owner Hall Communications bought WONN, along with FM sister station 97.5 WPCV in Winter Haven, for $2 million.

On August 5, 2024, WONN changed its format to sports radio from "America's Best Music" - soft oldies and adult standards. It uses programming from Fox Sports Radio and calls itself "Fox Sports Radio Lakeland." It is now the only sports talk station in the Lakeland-Winter Haven radio market.
