Zawada (German: Zowade, 1936-45: Lichten in Oberschlesien), is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Głogówek, within Prudnik County, Opole Voivodeship, in southern Poland, close to the Czech border. It lies approximately 8 kilometres (5 mi) north-west of Głogówek, 20 km (12 mi) north-east of Prudnik, and 31 km (19 mi) south of the regional capital Opole. Historically located in Upper Silesia, in the Prudnik Land.
Etymology
The name is of Polish origin, and means "obstacle". Under Nazi Germany, in 1936, the village was renamed Lichten in Oberschlesien to erase traces of Polish origin.
