Zecicindela feredayi is a species of tiger beetle endemic to New Zealand.
Taxonomy
This species was described as Cicindela feredayi in 1867 by Henry Walter Bates from a female specimen collected in Canterbury. It was most recently revised in 2013, in which it was moved to the Zecicindela genus.
Description
The adults are recorded at 7.5-9.0mm in length. The head and thorax are coloured greenish black. The elytra is also greenish black with whitish markings dorsally. Much of the body is covered in white hairs.
Distribution
This species is widespread throughout most of New Zealand. The adults are known to occur from November to April. They occur at a range of altitudes on sandy pockets.
