:* ''Quality'' over ''quantity''. I am often found in the new articles section, tagging rubbish for speedy deletion. Speedy deletion is OK. No troubles doing that. It's the AfD process that causes me grief, because people will vote to keep ]. It's not that I have a problem with the Misplaced Pages community's desire for the encyclopedia to contain as much information about everything as possible, I just hate to see the standard of Misplaced Pages lowered by borderline spam, stubs about non-notable things that contain just enough meaningless information to avoid speedy deletion, and other assorted gibberish. I realize I'm well and truly outvoted on this issue, however, so I now avoid AfD like the plague and concentrate my efforts in the following areas:
::* Hitting 'random article' and fixing spelling and grammar mistakes as I see them. I have a good eye for that sort of thing.
::* '''Writing good articles'''. Too many bad articles? Shift the balance by writing good ones.
::* Miscellaneous category sorting.

Misplaced Pages does not need an article on every album ever released. Misplaced Pages does not need an article on every city, county and township in America, or every star in the galaxy, or a synopsis of every episode of The Family Guy (which by the way is a damn funny show). Misplaced Pages would be better off not listing the ingredients of ].
:*''Vigilance''- Look for vanity, vandalism and patent nonsense and, when you find it, kill it.

:*'''!!!NO COMMERCIAL AFFILIATION!!!'''- ]. Basically, Answers.com want to sell information from Misplaced Pages and give Misplaced Pages a slice of the profits. I am opposed to this. I have contributed several articles to this site and I object to someone else making money from them.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to fly the Deletionist flag over at AfD. I no longer care if I'm outvoted. Someone has to do it.

My Misplaced Pages Philosophy

  • Quality over quantity. There is too much crap on Misplaced Pages. This admirable project is accumulating crap at an ever increasing rate and, apart from vigilant folks who prowl the new articles section tagging bad articles for speedy deletion, there just isn't enough being done to curb the influx of utter tripe.

Misplaced Pages does not need an article on every album ever released. Misplaced Pages does not need an article on every city, county and township in America, or every star in the galaxy, or a synopsis of every episode of The Family Guy (which by the way is a damn funny show). Misplaced Pages would be better off not listing the ingredients of Virgil's Root Beer.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to fly the Deletionist flag over at AfD. I no longer care if I'm outvoted. Someone has to do it.
