=Uncontroversial proposals=
Only list here proposals that are needed to be ''clearly'' uncontroversial but require administrator help to complete (for example, spelling and capitalization fixes). ''Do not list a proposed page move in this section if there is any possibility that it could be opposed by anyone.'' Please list new requests at the bottom of the list and use '''<code><nowiki>{{subst:WP:RM2|Old page name|Requested name|Reason for move}}</nowiki></code>''' rather than copying previous entries. The template will automatically include your signature. No edits to the article's talk page are required.

{{shortcut|WP:RMCOMMENT}}
All editors are welcome to contribute to the discussion regarding a requested page move. There are a number of standards that Wikipedians should practice in such discussions:
* When editors recommend a course of action, they write '''Support''' or '''Oppose''' in bold text, which is done by surrounding the word with three single quotes on each side, e.g. {{code|<nowiki>'''Support'''</nowiki>}}.
* Comments or recommendations are added on a new bulleted line (that is, starting with *) and signed by adding {{code|<nowiki>~~~~</nowiki>}} to the end. Responses to another editor are ] using multiple bullets.
* The article itself should be reviewed before any recommendation is made; do not base recommendations solely on the information supplied by other editors. It may also help to look at the article's edit history. However, please read the earlier comments and recommendations, as well as prior move requests. They may contain relevant arguments and useful information.
* Vested interests in the article should be disclosed per {{Section link|Misplaced Pages:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI}}.

When participating, please consider the following:
:I would prefer for a proper naming discussion to take place at ] instead of at the article's current location (]) for three reasons:
* Editors should make themselves familiar with the article titling policy at ].
:# Due process: the moves were done without any discussion whatsoever.
* Other important guidelines that set forth community norms for article titles include ], specific naming conventions, and ].
:# It's the simplest way of fixing all the double redirects (compare ] with ]).
* The debate is not a vote; please do not make recommendations that are not sustained by arguments.
:# It's the name that I found when doing internet searches:
* Explain ''how'' the proposed article title meets or contravenes policy and guidelines rather than merely stating that it does so.
::*Google Books: , , & .
* {{anchor|nom|Nom}}Nomination already implies that the nominator supports the name change, and nominators should refrain from repeating this recommendation on a separate bulleted line.{{efn|A nominator making a procedural nomination with which they may not agree is free to add a bulleted line explaining their actual position. Additional detail, such as sources, may also be provided in an additional bullet point if its inclusion in the nomination statement would make the statement unwieldy. Please remember that the entire nomination statement appears on the list on this page.}}
::*Google Scholar: , , & .
* Do not make conflicting recommendations. If you change your mind, use strike-through to retract your previous statement by enclosing it between <nowiki><s></nowiki> and <nowiki></s></nowiki> after the bullets, and de-bold the struck words, as in "• <s>Support</s> '''Oppose'''".
::*Amazon.com: , , & .

Please remember that reasonable editors will sometimes disagree, but that arguments based in policy, guidelines, and evidence have more weight than unsupported statements. When an editor offers an argument that does not explain how the move request is consistent with policies and guidelines, a reminder to engage in constructive, on-topic discussion may be useful. On the other hand, a pattern of responding to requests with groundless opinion, ], and ignoring content guidelines may become disruptive. If a pattern of disruptive behavior persists after efforts are made to correct the situation through dialogue, please consider using a ] process.

Relisting a discussion moves the request out of the backlog up to the current day in order to encourage further input. The decision to relist a discussion is best left to uninvolved experienced editors upon considering, but declining, to close the discussion. In general, discussions should not be relisted more than once before ].{{efn|Despite this, discussions are occasionally relisted more than once.}} Users relisting a debate which has already been relisted, or relisting a debate with a substantial discussion, should write a short explanation on why they did not consider the debate sufficient to close. While there is no consensus forbidding participation in a requested move discussion after relisting it, many editors consider it an inadvisable form of ]. If you want to relist a discussion and then participate in it, be prepared to explain why you think it was appropriate.

Relisting should be done using {{tlxs|RM relist}}, which automatically includes the relister's signature, ''and which must be placed at the very end of the initial request after the move requester's signature (and subsequent relisters' signatures)''.

] gave me the normal procedure for moving a new page, with an error in the title, but it seems to have failed due to a third page not seen.

My attempt to move "National Technical Means of Verification" to "National Means of Technical Verification" was rejected, apparently because there is already a stub article "National Technical Means". I'd propose that the latter article merge into the new one, at the same time correcting the common misconception that this is simply a euphemism of reconnaissance satellites. I believe everything in that page is covered in the new one.

As my fairly extensive discussion of non-satellite MASINT techniques shows, there is much more to verification. Indeed, I probably should have added some satellite systems that are not reconnaissance in the usual definition, such as the VELA program and its successors. ] 16:03, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Requested moves is a process for requesting the retitling (moving) of an article, template, or project page on Misplaced Pages. For information on retitling files, categories, and other items, see § When not to use this page.

Before moving a page or requesting a move, please review the article titling policy and the guidelines on primary topics.

Any autoconfirmed user can move a page using the "Move" option in the editing toolbar; see how to move a page for more information. If you have no reason to expect a dispute concerning a move, be bold and move the page. However, it may not always be possible or desirable to do this:

  • Technical reasons may prevent a move; for example, a page may already exist at the target title and require deletion, or the page may be protected from moves. In such cases, see § Requesting technical moves.
  • Requests to revert recent, undiscussed, controversial moves may be made at WP:RM/TR. If the new name has not become the stable title, the undiscussed move will be reverted. If the new name has become the stable title, a requested move will be needed to determine the article's proper location.
  • A title may be disputed, and discussion may be necessary to reach consensus: see § Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves. The requested moves process is not mandatory, and sometimes an informal discussion at the article's talk page can help reach consensus.
  • A page should not be moved and a new move discussion should not be opened when there is already an open move request on a talk page. Instead, please participate in the open discussion.
  • Unregistered and new (not yet autoconfirmed) users are unable to move pages.

Requests are typically processed after seven days. If consensus supports the move at or after this time, a reviewer will perform it. If there is a consensus not to move the page, the request will be closed as "not moved." When consensus remains unclear, the request may be relisted to allow more time, or closed as "no consensus". See Misplaced Pages:Requested moves/Closing instructions for more details on the process.

Misplaced Pages:Move review can be used to contest the outcome of a move request as long as all steps are followed. If a discussion on the closer's talk page does not resolve an issue, then a move review will evaluate the close of the move discussion to determine whether or not the contested close was reasonable and consistent with the spirit and intent of common practice, policies, and guidelines.

When not to use this page

Shortcuts

Separate processes exist for moving certain types of pages, and for changes other than page moves:

Undiscussed moves

Shortcuts

Autoconfirmed editors may move a page without discussion if all of the following apply:

  • No article exists at the new target title;
  • There has been no previous discussion about the title of the page that expressed any objection to a new title; and
  • It seems unlikely that anyone would reasonably disagree with the move.

If you disagree with a prior bold move, and the new title has not been in place for a long time, you may revert the move yourself. If you cannot revert the move for technical reasons, then you may request a technical move.

Move wars are disruptive, so if you make a bold move and it is reverted, do not make the move again. Instead, follow the procedures laid out in § Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves.

Requesting technical moves

Shortcuts Project page to request technical page moves Shortcuts

If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."

If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.
  • If this is your first article and you want your draft article moved to the mainspace, please submit it for review at Articles for creation, by adding the code {{subst:submit}} to the top of the draft or user sandbox page instead of listing it here.
  • Because you are autoconfirmed, you can move most pages yourself. Do not request technical assistance on this page if you can do it yourself.
  • If you need help determining whether it's okay to move the page to a different title, then please follow the instructions at the top of Misplaced Pages:Requested moves.
  • To list a technical request: edit the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
    {{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}

    This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
  • If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
  • If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

  • Magical Taruruto  Magical Taruruto-kun (currently a redirect back to Magical Taruruto) (move · discuss) – The series has so many title variations that it's confusing, but the addition of the -kun suffix is the most common way the title is given throughout the internet and within the series' fandom. The anime, the bulk of the series' popularity, has never been officially available in the west, and the MangaPlanet release isn't as widely known. The archived Toei Animation external link includes numerous grammatical errors and the English website (both current and archived) have very inconsistent names for other titles and descriptions (Goldfish Warning! being Goldfish Forecast, for example). • Lufthansa  Lufthansa Group (currently a redirect back to Lufthansa) (move · discuss) – the current trading name of Deutsche Lufthansa AG has been known as Lufthansa Group and mainly serves together as a trading brand of all its branches e.g Swiss and Austrian Airlines. The name Lufthansa mainly refers to its mainline airline subsidiary Lufthansa German Airlines, which is a parallel branch to its sister companies, there’s a need to differ these two from the others since they do have fairly different meanings Yuezhi Huang (talk) 14:16, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
    Relevant merge discussion: Special:Diff/1089819725#Scope of this article and Lufthansa Group - not a very large number of participants, and consensus for the merge doesn't seem to strongly favor the title choice versus Lufthansa Group (although one response notes difficulty locating the actual legal entity entitled as such) - I don't see any reason to block this unless anybody else has a strong opinion, however, the actual ownership structure for this entity seems a little complex. I can see arguments for WP:CONCISE favoring the current title, we would need to analyze the large number of sources to identify which is the common name, which might be tricky due to multiple topics for "Lufthansa" ASUKITE 15:10, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
    I would definitely contest this move. Lufthansa is a major internationally-known airline and if the participants in that merge discussion didn't discuss whether the title should be Lufthansa or Lufthansa Group, that's probably because it was very obvious that the WP:COMMONNAME is the one that should prevail. As was also noted in the merge discussion, it's hard to delineate a clear separation between the different entities involved, such as parent company Deutsche Lufthansa AG and Lufthansa Group. If, as the nom suggests, there's really a case for treating the group owning the Swiss and Austrian Airlines separately, then the solution would be to reverse the merge that was carried out in 2022. But what should not happen in my view, and which is certainly controversial, is to move the article away from Lufthansa, leaving the latter as a redirect, given that it's one of the most widely known airline names in the world. Cheers  — Amakuru (talk) 15:26, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
    Thanks, I can stop trying to dig through the sources now as it's giving me a headache. I'll move this to contested - @Yuezhi Huang if you wish to proceed, you can click the "discuss" link above, fill in your rationale and click "publish" to open a discussion. ASUKITE 15:36, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
    According to the Lufthansa Group website, the LHG is doing business as Lufthansa Aktie or Deutsche Lufthansa AG (LHA.XE), none of the wholly owned subsidiaries are doing business separately. To my conclusion, LHG = Deutsche Lufthansa AG = Lufthansa Aktie, Lufthansa however, refers to the wholly owned network airline “Lufthansa Airlines”, which is a parallel subsidiary just like Swiss and Austrian Airlines, a fairly distinct difference is given on the LHG website, as these two have completely different structures and management boards. Therefore I think the best solution is to reverse the merger of “Lufthansa Group” and “Lufthansa” articles which was done in 2022, and give each of them a clear definition of the difference between “Airline Group” and “Airline”. Cheers! Yuezhi Huang (talk) 15:53, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
Also note that the WP:CONCISE and WP:COMMONNAME guidelines do not force us ignore the company's real name in its official paperwork. It's just a matter of an article title that is comprehensible to the ordinary WP user. For example, we have an article called IBM rather than the officially correct "International Business Machines Corporation". ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 19:21, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
@F J Wright I think we need more sources (in this case, showing a preference to use the uppercase title in running text) to go forward with this, and for the article in general. ASUKITE 18:23, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
@162 etc. On Lighter (disambiguation) I see two songs called "Lighters" with their own articles and two songs called "Lighter" covered as part of an album article. This is a primary topic question that I believe is nit uncontroversial and should be resolved by an RM. Toadspike 11:39, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
How so? "Lighters" is not ambiguous with "Lighter". And, per WP:SONGDAB, the additional disambiguation is not required unless another article about a song of the same name exists. 162 etc. (talk) 17:07, 10 January 2025 (UTC)

Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves

Shortcuts

The discussion process is used for potentially controversial moves. A move is potentially controversial if either of the following applies:

  • there has been any past debate about the best title for the page;
  • someone could reasonably disagree with the move.

Use this process if there is any reason to believe a move would be contested. For technical move requests, such as to correct obvious typographical errors, see Requesting technical moves. The technical moves procedure can also be used for uncontroversial moves when the requested title is occupied by an existing article.

Do not create a new move request when one is already open on the same talk page. Instead, consider contributing to the open discussion if you would like to propose another alternative. Multiple closed move requests may be on the same page, but each should have a unique section heading.

Do not create a move request to rename one or more redirects. Redirects cannot be used as current titles in requested moves.

Requesting a single page move

Shortcut

To request a single page move, click on the "New section" (or "Add topic") tab of the talk page of the article you want moved, without adding a new subject/header, inserting this code:

{{subst:requested move|New name|reason=Place here your rationale for the proposed page name change, ideally referring to applicable naming convention policies and guidelines, and providing evidence in support where appropriate. If your reasoning includes search engine results, please prioritize searches limited to reliable sources (e.g. books, news, scholarly papers) over other web results. You don't need to add your signature at the end, as this template will do so automatically.}}

Replace New name with the requested new name of the page (or with a simple question mark, if you want more than one possible new name to be considered). The template will automatically create the heading "Requested move 10 January 2025" and sign the post for you.

There is no need to edit the article in question. Once the above code is added to the Talk page, a bot will automatically add the following notification at the top of the affected page:

A request that this page title be changed is under discussion. Please do not move this page until the discussion is closed.

Unlike other request processes on Misplaced Pages, such as Requests for comment, nominations need not be neutral. Make your point as best you can; use evidence (such as Google Ngrams and pageview statistics) and refer to applicable policies and guidelines, especially our article titling policy and the guideline on disambiguation and primary topics.

WikiProjects may subscribe to Article alerts to receive RM notifications. For example, Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Biography/Article alerts/Requested moves is transcluded to Misplaced Pages talk:WikiProject Biography. RMCD bot notifies many of the other Wikiprojects listed on the talk page of the article to be moved to invite project members to participate in the RM discussion. Requesters should feel free to notify any other Wikiproject or noticeboard that might be interested in the move request, as long as this notification is neutral.

Single page move on a different talk page

Occasionally, a move request must be made on a talk page other than the talk page of the page to be moved. For example, a request to rename Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Articles for creation/Resources to Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Articles for creation/Reviewing and templates would need to take place at Misplaced Pages talk:WikiProject Articles for creation because the talk page of the project page to be moved, Misplaced Pages talk:WikiProject Articles for creation/Resources, is a redirect to that centralized discussion page. In this type of case, the requested move should be made using the following code:

{{subst:requested move|reason=(the reason for the page move goes here).|current1=(present title of page to be renamed)|new1=(proposed title of page)}}

The |1= unnamed parameter is not used. The |current1= and |new1= parameters are used similar to multiple page moves described below.

Requesting multiple page moves

Shortcut

A single template may be used to request multiple related moves. On one of the talk pages of the affected pages, create a request and format it as below. A sample request for three page moves is shown here (for two page moves, omit the lines for current3 and new3). For four page moves, add lines for current4 and new4, and so on. There is no technical limit on the number of multiple move requests, but before requesting very large multi-moves, consider whether a naming convention should be changed first. Discuss that change on the talk page for the naming convention, e.g., Misplaced Pages talk:Naming conventions (sportspeople).

To request a multiple page move, edit at the bottom of the talk page of the article you chose for your request, without adding a new header, inserting this code:

{{subst:requested move
| current1 = Current title of page 1 (this parameter can be omitted for discussions hosted on a page that is proposed to be moved)
| new1 = New title for page 1 with the talk page hosting this discussion
| current2 = Current title of page 2
| new2     = New title for page 2
| current3 = Current title of page 3
| new3     = New title for page 3
| reason = Place here your rationale for the proposed page name change, ideally referring to applicable naming convention policies and guidelines, and providing evidence in support where appropriate. If your reasoning includes search engine results, please prioritize searches limited to reliable sources (e.g. books, news, scholarly papers) over other web results. You don't need to add your signature at the end, as this template will do so automatically.
}}
See also: Template:Requested move/extended blank

For example, to propose moving the articles Misplaced Pages and Wiki, put this template on Talk:Misplaced Pages with current1 set to Misplaced Pages and current2 set to Wiki. The discussion for all affected articles is held on the talk page of the article where the template is placed (Talk:Misplaced Pages). Do not sign the request with ~~~~, since the template does this automatically (so if you sign it yourself there will be two copies of your signature at the end of the request). Do not skip pairs of numbers.

RMCD bot automatically places a notice section on the talk page of all pages that are included in your request except the one hosting the discussion, to call attention to the move discussion that is in progress and to suggest that all discussion for all of the pages included in the request should take place at that one hosting location.

For multi-move discussions hosted on a page which is itself proposed to be moved, it is not necessary to include the |current1=Current title of page 1 for the page hosting the discussion, as its current title can be inferred automatically. Occasionally the discussions for significant multi-move requests may be hosted on WikiProject talk pages or other pages in Project namespace, in which case it is necessary to include |current1= to indicate the first article to be moved.

Request all associated moves explicitly

Shortcut

Please list every move that you wish to have made in your request. For example, if you wish to move Cricket (disambiguation) to Cricket because you do not believe the sport is the primary topic for the search term "Cricket", then you actually want to move two pages, both Cricket (disambiguation) and Cricket. Thus you must list proposed titles for each page affected by your request. For example, you might propose:

If a new title is not proposed for the sport, it is more difficult to achieve consensus for a new title for that article. A move request that does not show what to do with the material at its proposed target, such as:

is incomplete. Such requests may be completed as a request to decide the best new title by discussion.

If a disambiguation page is in the way of a move, the request may be completed as proposing to add (disambiguation).

Commenting on a requested move

Shortcut

All editors are welcome to contribute to the discussion regarding a requested page move. There are a number of standards that Wikipedians should practice in such discussions:

  • When editors recommend a course of action, they write Support or Oppose in bold text, which is done by surrounding the word with three single quotes on each side, e.g. '''Support'''.
  • Comments or recommendations are added on a new bulleted line (that is, starting with *) and signed by adding ~~~~ to the end. Responses to another editor are threaded and indented using multiple bullets.
  • The article itself should be reviewed before any recommendation is made; do not base recommendations solely on the information supplied by other editors. It may also help to look at the article's edit history. However, please read the earlier comments and recommendations, as well as prior move requests. They may contain relevant arguments and useful information.
  • Vested interests in the article should be disclosed per Misplaced Pages:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI.

When participating, please consider the following:

  • Editors should make themselves familiar with the article titling policy at Misplaced Pages:Article titles.
  • Other important guidelines that set forth community norms for article titles include Misplaced Pages:Disambiguation, specific naming conventions, and the manual of style.
  • The debate is not a vote; please do not make recommendations that are not sustained by arguments.
  • Explain how the proposed article title meets or contravenes policy and guidelines rather than merely stating that it does so.
  • Nomination already implies that the nominator supports the name change, and nominators should refrain from repeating this recommendation on a separate bulleted line.
  • Do not make conflicting recommendations. If you change your mind, use strike-through to retract your previous statement by enclosing it between <s> and </s> after the bullets, and de-bold the struck words, as in "• Support Oppose".

On the other hand, a pattern of responding to requests with groundless opinion, proof by assertion, and ignoring content guidelines may become disruptive. If a pattern of disruptive behavior persists after efforts are made to correct the situation through dialogue, please consider using a dispute resolution process.

Closing a requested move

Any uninvolved editor in good standing may close a move request. Please read the closing instructions for information on how to close a move request. The Simple guide to closing RM discussions details how to actually close a requested move discussion.

Relisting a requested move

Shortcut

Relisting a discussion moves the request out of the backlog up to the current day in order to encourage further input. The decision to relist a discussion is best left to uninvolved experienced editors upon considering, but declining, to close the discussion. In general, discussions should not be relisted more than once before properly closing. Users relisting a debate which has already been relisted, or relisting a debate with a substantial discussion, should write a short explanation on why they did not consider the debate sufficient to close. While there is no consensus forbidding participation in a requested move discussion after relisting it, many editors consider it an inadvisable form of supervote. If you want to relist a discussion and then participate in it, be prepared to explain why you think it was appropriate.

Relisting should be done using {{subst:RM relist}}, which automatically includes the relister's signature, and which must be placed at the very end of the initial request after the move requester's signature (and subsequent relisters' signatures).

When a relisted discussion reaches a resolution, it may be closed at any time according to the closing instructions; there is no required length of time to wait before closing a relisted discussion.

If discussion has become stale, or it seems that discussion would benefit from more input of editors versed in the subject area, consider more widely publicizing the discussion, such as by notifying WikiProjects of the discussion using the template {{RM notification}}. Banners placed at the top of the talk page hosting the move request can often be used to identify WikiProjects suitable for notification.

Notes

  1. A nominator making a procedural nomination with which they may not agree is free to add a bulleted line explaining their actual position. Additional detail, such as sources, may also be provided in an additional bullet point if its inclusion in the nomination statement would make the statement unwieldy. Please remember that the entire nomination statement appears on the list on this page.
  2. Despite this, discussions are occasionally relisted more than once.

  • (Discuss)GeForce 50 seriesGeForce RTX 50 series – Including "RTX" in the titles of Misplaced Pages articles about recent ray-tracing enabled NVIDIA GeForce generations is important for several reasons:
    * Brand Recognition: "RTX" has become synonymous with NVIDIA's ray-tracing technology. By including "RTX" in the title, readers immediately associate the product with NVIDIA's specific technology and branding.
    * Clarity and Specificity: NVIDIA uses "RTX" to distinguish its GPUs that support real-time ray tracing, AI cores and other advanced graphics features from previous generations and competitors' products. Including "RTX" helps clarify which GPUs are equipped with these advanced capabilities.
    * Marketing and Differentiation: NVIDIA heavily markets its RTX GPUs as superior for real-time ray tracing and AI-enhanced graphics processing. Including "RTX" in the title reinforces this marketing message and differentiates NVIDIA's products in a competitive market.
    * Search Engine Optimization (SEO): Including "RTX" in the title improves search engine visibility and makes it easier for users searching specifically for NVIDIA's ray-tracing enabled GPUs to find relevant information quickly.
    Overall, "RTX" is a crucial part of NVIDIA's branding strategy and helps both consumers and enthusiasts identify and understand the advanced capabilities of their GPUs.

  • (Discuss)Spanish Christian–Muslim War of 1172–1212Almohad period in the Reconquista – The current title is incorrect because it was not a war, it was a process/period. Before creating this article, I was looking for information about the Reconquista and found this book: * Charles, Phillips (2004). Encyclopedia of Wars (PDF). Facts On File. ISBN 9780816028511. I saw that it mentioned several "Spanish Christian–Muslim Wars" and, after finding more sources that mention this, I decided to create an article about it. However, I now think this title is incorrect for several reasons: I found some sources that talk about a war between 1172–1212 but they are still very few and probably unreliable (cited at the start of the article, probably all of them mention it because it is in the Encyclopedia of Wars), there are more sources that mention those dates to refer to the Almohad period in the Reconquista or Almohad rule in al-Andalus/Spain . As @عبدالرحمن4132 said in the section above, the Almohads were already fighting the Christians before 1172 and continued after 1212 (although I defended the current title because I incorrectly thought it was a war). I have also noticed that there are sources that refer to the "peace treaty of 1212" as a truce and that, according to most of the sources , it actually happened in 1214, which contradicts the date. I have looked at the wars listed in the Encyclopedia of Wars (on which many of the sources that mention this "war" are based) and there are some that have inaccurate dates and even some that are not wars, but periods/processes (like this one). Some examples are: Almohad Conquest of Muslim Spain (period); Almoravid Conquest of Muslim Spain (period ); Spanish conquest of Chile (period ); Spanish-Portuguese War (1580–1589) (wrong date: different wars/campaigns ); etc. I have requested moving the article to "Almohad period in the Reconquista", but "Almohad period in the Iberian Peninsula", "Almohad period in Spain", "Almohad intervention in the Reconquista", "Almohad conflicts in the Iberian Peninsula" and others might also work. I will add and adapt the information in the article depending on the title change (if the move is successful). --RobertJohnson35 (talk) 23:38, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
  • (Discuss)Use of SarumSarum Missal – Or Sarum Rite – While the current title has considerable prevalence, it is no common name and its prevalence is no greater than the alternatives – both of which provide considerablly greater descriptive utility, outlining the subject as a missal or rite (and a more easily recognisable ecclesiastical category of subject), rather than merely a "use of", which is a descriptively unhelpful phrase. A-Z encyclopedias would opt to format a title such as this as "Sarum, Use of" to ensure the page listing in the "S"s rather than the "U"s. While this doesn't apply here, the same principle of having the more important key word up front does still benefit drop down menu searches and the like, which, combined with the historically greater prevalence of "Sarum Missal" name format simply reinforces the merit of the move. • (Discuss)History of the Jews in the United StatesJewish history in the United States – I would like to request this move as I believe the target article title is more natural and succinct. In being titled “Jewish history in the United States”, my proposed title also avoids simply referring to “the Jews”, which is not inaccurate but doesn’t reflect the history of American Jews rather than Jews in general being the primary focus of this article (although see the paragraph below). I did think about American Jewish history (currently a redirect) as an article title, but I prefer “Jewish history in the United States” as it seems to have a wider scope, for example including within scope the history of Jews in the territory of the US before American independence. That said, as I have written above, the main focus of this article is on American Jews. I’m conscious there are many other articles on Misplaced Pages titled “History of the Jews in X”. I similarly think these would generally be better titled as “Jewish history in X” for the same reasons of naturalness, succinctness and precision. Although I haven’t made this a multi-page move due to the scale of making such a wide-ranging change. I’d welcome more experienced editors’ views about this. I’d suggest, if this move request is not successful, that Jewish history in the United States be created as a redirect to this page. As it’s quite a natural search term. Finally, I would note my proposed title aligns with the main article on Jewish history. • (Discuss)Paris Saint-Germain AcademyParis Saint-Germain Youth Academy – A November 2024 RM failed, but it's unclear on what grounds. The current title, "Paris Saint-Germain Academy", refers to a program run by PSG for children across the world, giving them an opportunity to do training sessions under the PSG name and to improve on their game. It refers to this, with an example being the "France" academy here. These "schools" run by this "PSG Academy" program are NOT the actual youth academy this article is referring to. This article refers to the players that are in what is called in French the centre de formation, and by extension, those in the préformation. The article is referring to the players actually in PSG's youth system that ultimately goes up to the club's first team. And this youth system is NOT known by the name "Paris Saint-Germain Academy", both in sourcing and especially not by the club itself. The club calls its youth academy the centre de formation here, which it itself translates to "Paris Saint-Germain Youth Academy" on the same page in English. • (Discuss)Union Station (Los Angeles)Los Angeles Union Station – The actual name of this station is Los Angeles Union Station, not Union Station. There is no need to have "Los Angeles" in brackets and deviate from the station's actual name. The articles of other stations like this (whose names include the city name) such as are simply named what the station name is. The instances where the article name is "Union Station (city name)" are for when the station is actually called just Union Station, without the name of the city (e.g. Union Station (Erie, Pennsylvania)), Union Station (Columbia, Tennessee). Even if people use Union Station more often than the full name, this article still should clearly be called Los Angeles Union Station because of WP:NATURAL in addition to the fact that the name of the station does not require disambiguation. • (Discuss)Jewish extremist terrorismJewish terrorism – This current page title is at odds with the literature on the subject, which in no uncertain terms and without caveats uses the phrase "Jewish terrorism". This is not a controversial or even contested phrase; far from it, it is the only phrase with substantial usage on the subject – see Ngrams and also the wide array of scholarly literature on the topic - most of the titles of which speak for themselves. The term is used both as an academic term in the context of history, and as a very present-day term to refer to certain groups within modern Jewish society, as exemplified by the warning about Jewish terrorism issued in August 2024 by the Israeli intelligence chief. So this language is neither novel, nor non-current. More broadly, terrorism is extremism by default, so the insertion of "extremist" here (by wiki community invention and intervention) is grossly redundant and tautologous – hence why it finds so little currency among subject-matter experts. • (Discuss)Thai greetingWai (Thai gesture) – The name "Thai greeting" is too ambiguous and doesn't describe the subject of the article well, there are multiple different ways to greet someone, and the actual subject of the article, the wai, isn't used exclusively as a greeting (see this video to get a better idea and the above discussion and the previous attempt at moving this article). Additionally, again per the previous attempt at moving and also as of January 2025, the search results (for both Google and YouTube) for "wai greeting/gesture" seem to be slightly more common than "Thai greeting/gesture". • (Discuss)KAYO → ? – Not WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for the undisambiguated name. This is apparently a relatively new company launched within the past year, but KAYO has also been the call sign of at least two radio stations in the United States — formerly what's now KDDS-FM in metro Seattle and currently KAYO (FM) in Alaska, and there's also a current radio station in metro Seattle which officially has the call sign KYYO but uses the "KAYO" spelling in its branding because it's intentionally playing on the history of KDDS. So there are at least three other competing topics here, meaning that a disambiguation page is needed.
    Since this article doesn't clarify whether "KAYO" is an acronym for anything or not, I'm leaving the new title open for discussion — if it's an acronym then we could expand it to the full words, or if it's not then we could go with KAYO (Albania), but some move or other is needed as this absolutely can't claim to be the most prominent use of the plain undisambiguated title "KAYO". • (Discuss)HéloïseHeloise – As noted above by LlywelynII, the diacritics are not part of the subject's original name. She lived centuries before they appeared. They are also almost never used in English-language sources. Indeed, not one of the English-language sources cited in the article calls her Héloïse. I am not entirely convinced that this Heloise outweighs all her numerous namesakes together, so the title Heloise of the Paraclete should also be considered. It is the most common unambiguous name for the subject in English-language sources. Surtsicna (talk) 12:55, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
  • (Discuss)Magical TarurutoMagical Taruruto-kun – The series has so many title variations that it's confusing, but the addition of the -kun suffix is the most common way the title is given throughout the internet and within the series' fandom. • (Discuss)Stadion Miejski (Białystok)Białystok Municipal Stadium – I am submitting this request to revert the article title of the stadium in Białystok to its previous title, Białystok Municipal Stadium in light of recent actions by the user FromCzech. The move to the Polish-language title Stadion Miejski (Białystok) was made unilaterally and appears inconsistent with Misplaced Pages's guidelines, specifically WP:UE. This guideline encourages the use of English translations where appropriate to maintain accessibility for the global readership. FromCzech has argued for the name change without prior discussion, potentially as a reaction to a naming debate on Lokotrans Aréna that I initiated. This recent move does not reflect a consensus, and it also disrupts the established consistency within the "Football venues in Poland" category, where nearly all stadium names are translated into English. Notable examples include Father Władysław Augustynek Stadium, Gdynia Municipal Stadium, Kielce Municipal Stadium, and Raków Municipal Stadium. I urge that the title "Białystok Municipal Stadium" be restored to uphold Misplaced Pages’s principles of consistency and transparency, while also preventing this matter from being affected by personal disputes or editing motivated by anything other than Misplaced Pages's editorial standards. • (Discuss)Carter Harrison Sr.Carter Harrison III – Wrong name suffixes: These are two mayors of Chicago, a father (born 1825) and son (born 1865) both named Carter Henry Harrison. Somehow, Misplaced Pages articles have used the suffixes "Sr." and "Jr." for these two men, but later editors have noted them as "III" and "IV", and external sources seem to always refer to them as "III" and "IV". The Misplaced Pages articles seem to have no explanation of why "Sr." and "Jr." are used on Misplaced Pages. In 2017, another user noted one misnaming at Talk:Carter Harrison Jr.#Not a Junior. It appears that these two articles, and their attendant Commons categories, should be renamed; this seems uncontroversial, but I'm nominating for discussion out of an abundance of caution, in case I'm missing something, because I almost can't believe that these article titles have remained wrong for 20+ years. • (Discuss)DumplingDumplings – The Misplaced Pages manual of style calls for the singular form in article titles wherever reasonably possible. However, dumplings are probably an exception - it is very rare for a single dumpling to be served to a person. For example, the Polish name given here as the equivalent to "dumpling" is the plural "pierogi", not the singular "pierog". There is a dish actually called a pierog, but it's a completely different dish from the "pierogs" that make up pierogi. I propose a move to the plural form. — The Anome (talk) 20:16, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
  • (Discuss)Godi mediaCoverage of Narendra Modi in the Indian media – The current title is a neologism, and is not an English phrase. It may be notable as a phrase, but is not an appropriate article title. The alleged phenomenon of positive media coverage of Modi needs a neutral and descriptive title. The odd title has also led to nonsensical sentences such as "The phenomenon of Godi Media is not unique to India", under the section "International perspectives", which is going to be incomprehensible to most international readers. The neologism could arguably get a standalone article, but is probably best covered within this article at a new title. Vanamonde93 (talk) 16:54, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
  • (Discuss)Moldova and the Russo-Ukrainian WarRussian hybrid warfare against Moldova – This article is a compilation of actions that Russia has done to undermine and destabilize Moldova in the last years. They have happened during the Russo-Ukrainian War, but are part of a single coordinated effort and plan. We can rename the article so it covers this more precise and encyclopedic topic. We have a lot of sources describing this hybrid warfare that Russia is doing against Moldova. Here are some big names: the Institute for the Study of War ("The full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine is, in fact, supporting Russian hybrid warfare efforts in former Soviet states, particularly Moldova and Georgia"), the European Parliament ("vehemently condemns Russia's escalating malicious activities, interference and hybrid operations ahead of Moldovans going to the polls"), Politico citing Moldova's chief of police ("Moldova is facing a phenomenon of voter bribery, combined with hybrid warfare and disinformation, the likes of which our country has never seen before,"), Euronews ("the Kremlin has enacted elements of its hybrid war playbook in both states "), NATO itself ("In Moldova, Russia’s hybrid warfare has been aimed at toppling the country’s pro-EU government"). This hybrid warfare scheme would have involved many actions and events that are either already in the article or would have been had the article been written later. This article, currently with a vague and open scope, is the best recipient for this topic. Here are sources mentioning these actions as hybrid warfare: Russian-paid protests in Moldova (: "Russia has dedicated considerable resources to its hybrid war. For instance, protestors are routinely paid to participate in anti-government protests.", page 6; : "It later emerged that protesters had been paid by Kremlin proxies to attend." in an article about Russian hybrid warfare in Moldova), continuous airspace violations and falling of drones and missiles (: "The overall internal security situation remains stable, but fragile due to regular incidents such as bomb hoaxes and missiles or missile debris falling on Moldovan territory. in a section regarding hybrid warfare, page 258), Transnistria's role in this effort (: "Chisinau has been the victim of a complex hybrid action carried out by the Kremlin on multiple levels. In this respect, the Transnistria region has long been used by Russia as a bargaining chip in its efforts to influence Republic of Moldova."), rigging of elections and vote-buying (: "Indeed, Moldova's election season was marred by massive Russian interference in both campaigns. This meddling included cyberattacks, planned espionage at diaspora polling stations, and the outright buying of votes."; : "Recent votes in the former Soviet states of Georgia and Moldova have been dogged by interference from Russian-backed elements.", "There is a suggestion that these efforts are part of Russia’s multifaceted hybrid warfare."), an alleged coup in February 2023 (: "The timely leak of classified information about Russia's attempts to organize a coup in Chisinau allowed the government to react quickly", page 49, see source's title) and energy blackmail and the energy crisis of 2022 and 2023 (same source and page as before: "Thanks to substantial financial aid from the EU, Moldova was able to survive Russia’s energy blackmail in 2022 and even break Gazprom's monopoly."). This source summarizes everything nicely: Moldova's Response to Hybrid Attacks: A Learning-by-doing Strategy, page 2, "In addition to the potential risks coming from Transnistria, Moldova has witnessed a series of new challenges over the past year and a half, ranging from false bomb alerts, cyber-attacks, and explosions in Transnistria to energy blackmail, paid protests, and Kremlin proxies operating in the autonomous region of Gagauzia. This is all alongside continuous disinformation campaigns.". Note that I've only looked at English-language sources, and several of these sources are written by Moldovans themselves. Here are some random academic sources that I didn't use above . I think no doubt remains that sources verify that Russia is waging hybrid warfare against Moldova. • (Discuss)Deep state in the United StatesDeep state conspiracy theory in the United States – As provided by the numerous sources in a prior RfC on this article's talk page (and a simple Google search), multiple reliable sources are calling the deep state in the United States a political conspiracy theory. While the page for deep state itself discusses use of the term in historical and contemporary instances where there is and is not an actual "deep state", the overwhelming number of sources in regards to the United States explicitly state that such claims are a conspiracy theory. We include ROC history prior to 1949 in that article, and that is explained in context sufficiently in the introduction and elsewhere. For this topic, the convention has long been “Supreme Court of ”, since the official name for these organs is generally “Supreme Court” only (excluding country name). That is the case for Taiwan. Supreme Court of Taiwan or Taiwanese Supreme Court are very much common usage in reliable sources (news or academia). I wiill do this now. As several others have pointed out, refering to the incident as a "rape allegation" muddles the topic as the allegations were found objectly false and intentionally misleading during the trial and formal investigation. A hoax is defined as a, "a humorous or malicious deception" which applies here as Tawana Brawley knowingly made false accusations to decieve the court and general public. The term "Hoax" is universally used by American media to refer to the incident regardless of political leanings, such as by the New York Times, Retro Report, Associated Press, NPR, CBS, Washington Post , Huffpost, Daily Beast, Washington Times, Fox News, and New York Post. I believe that "hoax" is the correct term and not "fraud" as a fraud involves personal gain, and it is not so cut-and-dry as to determine if anyone benifited from the incident. It is nearly 40 years since the events occured, and the controversy has largley died down with the general public. See also other articles on Hawaii like Kahoʻolawe, and it's consistent within the neighbourhood and regions. This needs to be done for a few articles which have accurately updated the content but not the article titles, likely due to technical restrictions around redirect pages or inertia from people who assume this is a WP:COMMONNAME. Many of the names of organizations in Waikīkī in the article were actually mispelled to drop the diacritics despite those organizations themselves. The Hwasong-7 and Hwasong-10 are commonly referred to using external name given by United States (Rodong/Nodong and Musudan, respectively). These articles using official North Korea desginations. According to a The Hankyoreh article (here), "In many cases, the names given by other countries have entered more common usage than the names given by the countries that actually produced them. This has to do with the practice of most countries declining to give the actual name of missiles in the development stages or actual key use, due to reasons of military secrecy". KN-02, KN-06 and KN-19 have official North Korean designation (Hwasong-11, Pongae-5 and Kumsong-3, respectively), suggesting the revelation of official names. The M142 HIMARS (whose common name is HIMARS), and UGM-133 Trident II (whose common name is Trident II or Trident II D5) using official United States's designations, therefore, it seems unfair for North Korean missile articles to use the US designation (KN-xx) as title, although the official North Korean designations are known. And the common name policy appears to be not suitable for these cases. Therefore, the above articles (KN-02 Toksa, KN-06 and KN-19) should be moved per above. This was requested as a technical move, but contested on the grounds that the current title is in common usage in certain areas of the field of medicine (i.e. the US). I would argue that the entire point of Misplaced Pages adopting a standard such as the use of the INN is to avoid favouring one area of usage over another, for example the use of the INN Paracetamol as an article title over the US English Acetominophin. Further afield, the usage of Aluminium over Aluminum clearly demonstrates that common usage in US English is not sufficient grounds to prefer a US English name over the accepted standard name. It is not. In Indonesia, the country from which Timor-Leste gained independence, Timor-Leste is the name of the country, and East Timor (province) is the name of the former province. Timor Leste (without the dash) is the article title of the country in the following languages: Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Melayu, Basa Bali, Jawa, Sunda, Acèh, Minangkabau. Timor Timur (translation of East Timor without disambiguation) is the article name of the province in the following languages: Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Melayu. The languages are explained in the following paragraph. Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian language) is the lingua franca of Indonesia and is a variant of Bahasa Melayu. Bahasa Melayu (Malay language) is the lingua franca of the region including countries of Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, and others. Basa Bali (Balinese language) is the language in Bali, the exotic island in Indonesia. Jawa (Javanese language) and Sunda (Sundanese language) are languages in Java, the most-populous island in Indonesia. Acèh (Acehnese language) and Minangkabau (Minangkabau language) are languages in Sumatra, the second most-populous island in Indonesia. I view the arguments made in favor of previous moves have been consistent with policies and guidelines. In this move, I aim to provide assurances to the remaining holdouts, moving the page is at least as safe as retaining the status quo. On the other hand, when comparing against the Sweet Female Attitude song (the most successful of the other songs), the Miley song peaked at number-one on the UK Singles Chart and stayed there for 10 weeks. In addition, it is certified 3x Platinum in the United Kingdom and was the year-end number one of 2023 in that country.
    Finally, with respect to ], the Miley song has 10x the page views of the Sweet Female Attitude song, 100x the page views of the Lauren Spencer-Smith song, and 1000x the page views of the Billy Yates song. For the above reasons, I believe that the SZA song is the primary topic with respect to songs. N0nuun (talk) 19:33, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
  • (Discuss)Oleg of DreliniaOleg of Dereva – "drelinia" appears to be an WP:OR toponym, it is not widely attested in English-language WP:RS. Therefore, as pointed out in 2011 by User:Ghirlandajo, there is no such term as "drelinia". It was a good thing he decided rename the article to "Oleg of the Drevlyans", although that is still not quite what the text says. (Some English literature suggests "Oleg among the Derevlyans", but only for translating this specific sentence in PVL 69.8–9). Nevertheless, in 2018 this was reverted back to "Oleg of Drelinia" by User:Iryna Harpy with the comment revert: Undiscussed move. Drelinia is attested to in English language texts, whether correct or incorrect. Is WP:OR as WP:TITLE. Well, I could find only 1 hit on Google Books (Ase Berit, Rolf Strandskogen 2015, which may have been influenced by this enwiki article), and 0 hits on Google Scholar. So let's get back to the basics. The land in question is simply called Дерева Dereva, which in modern Ukrainian and Russian still simply means "the trees" or "the woods" (plural; in singular wikt:дерево), i.e. "the Woods". * Въ лѣто 6478. Святославъ посади Яропълка въ Кыевѣ, а Ольга въ Деревѣхъ. (PVL 69.8–9 Ostrowski et al. 2003 ** Vŭ lěto 6478. Svyatoslavŭ posadi Yaropolŭka vŭ Kyevŭ, a Olĭga vŭ Derevěkhŭ. *** 6478 (970). Svyatoslav set up Yaropolk in Kiev and Oleg in Dereva. Cross&SW 1953 p. 87 деревѣхъ (derevěkhŭ) is the plural locative of дерево in Old East Slavic. It literally means "in the woods". Sometimes it is nevertheless translated as Derevlyans or some spelling variation of that ethnonym (e.g. Thuis 2015 Derevljanen), but in this case, it is a toponym, referring to a land (Dereva "the Woods") and not to a people (Derevlyans "the Wood-Dwellers"). In 12 cases in total, Cross&SW rendered the toponym as Dereva, and never as "Drelinia". In the incident in which Oleg kills Lyut', Oleg's hunting grounds are similarly called "in the forest", but with a different word: въ лѣсѣ vŭ lěsě (PVL 74.12–14; Cross&SW p. 90). Compare with the next event (1): *В лѣто 6485. Поиде Яропълкъ на Ольга, брата своего, на Деревьску землю. PVL 74.22–23 ** Vŭ lěto 6485. Poide Yaropŭlkŭ na Olĭga, brata svoego, na Derevĭsku zemlyu. *** 6484-6485 (976-977). Yaropolk marched against his brother Oleg into the district of Dereva. p. 90 Compare with a previous event (2): *И послуша ихъ Игорь; иде въ Дерева въ дань. PVL 54.20 ** I poslusha ikhŭ Igorĭ; ide vŭ Dereva vŭ danĭ. *** Igor' heeded their words, and he attacked Dereva in search of tribute. p. 78 Some English-language literature suggests simply Oleg of Dereva, or Oleg Sviatoslavich of Dereva. Going by our own enwiki conventions, we could also go for Oleg, Prince of Dereva, but that has the problem of translating knyaz, which is a whole other discussion that we better avoid. interwikis suggest Oleg Sviatoslavich (Prince of Dereva or Oleg Sviatoslavich (Derevlyan prince) (but those would not conform to enwiki conventions), or simply Oleg Sviatoslavich (but that already redirects to Oleg I of Chernigov). All things considered, Oleg of Dereva is the most obvious title: it conforms to our conventions, it is WP:CONCISE, it is somewhat attested in literature, plus Dereva separately is overwhelmingly attested in English-language literature as the toponym's WP:COMMONNAME. The current title is WP:OR and cannot be maintained anymore, and the other options all have certain problems that Oleg of Dereva does not have. NLeeuw (talk) 15:32, 4 January 2025 (UTC)

There is a redirect from "Bobby Simpson" to "Bob Simpson" when it should be the other way round. Then "Bob Simpson (cricketer)" should be deleted. The 2005 changes are not quite the solution. • (Discuss)Mufti Abdul RazzaqAbdul Razzaq (scholar) – Previous attempts to rename this article were reverted on the grounds that it complies with Misplaced Pages's CommonName policy. However, based on my understanding, the title does not align with the policy's requirements. "Mufti" is an honorific title, and its inclusion in a CommonName is justified only when it is widely recognized and has become a fundamental part of the subject's identity, as in the cases of Mufti Mehmood or Maulana Azad. A comprehensive review indicates that the subject is not widely discussed in reliable sources, either in English or their native language, and lacks sufficient secondary sources. How, then, was the determination made that this is a CommonName? Coverage is limited, primarily consisting of breaking news after the subject’s death, with the majority of sources being relatively non-mainstream. While it is common for media to use titles in describing individuals, such usage does not necessarily equate to a CommonName under Misplaced Pages's criteria. –𝐎𝐰𝐚𝐢𝐬 𝐀𝐥 𝐐𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢 ʕʘ̅͜ʘ̅ʔ 14:29, 25 December 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 07:35, 4 January 2025 (UTC)

  • (Discuss)Damdi MasjidDamri Masjid – Damri Masjid is currently redirected to Toli Masjid, which is not referred to as the Damri Masjid in any scholarly sources. It was historically also known as the Damri Masjid (as noted by this), but in every piece of literature (academic sources, listing of monuments, newspapers, etc.) it is referred to as the Toli Masjid, and so is the case with all the sources in the article. The only source mentioning the name "Damri Masjid" also calls it Toli Masjid primarily, noting that Damri Masjid is a historical name for the mosque. On the other hand, Damdi Masjid is spelt Damri in all scholarly sources (2 of them in the refs on the article; many more passing mentions) and listings of historical monuments (ASI's list of monuments of national importance). • (Discuss)Cabinet of GermanyFederal Government of Germany – "Federal Government of Germany" is the natural, precise, concise and above all consistent title. On the other hand, "Cabinet of Germany" is not commonly recognizable and not a title that readers are likely to look or search for if they wanted to find the German government. Furthermore, the current title is colloquial and legally (see Basic Law for the Federal Republic of Germany, sixth section, "VI. The Federal Government") and technically incorrect. The title also differs from all other search engine results on this topic and the official website itself.

  • (Discuss)Yotta SavingsYotta – The company, and recent articles about it, uses the name "Yotta" and not "Yotta Savings". The term "savings" does not appear on the company's terms and conditions page, although its legal name "Yotta Technologies" does. The article "Yotta" on Misplaced Pages is a redirect to Metric prefix#List of SI prefixes, and while yotta is an SI prefix, it is a rarely used one for a very large number; we can refer to it in a hatnote from a retitled Yotta page about the fintech company. Two US-based search engines, when queried for yotta, return primarily pages about the fintech company, not the metric prefix. White 720 (talk) 18:36, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
  • (Discuss)Tel al-Sultan attackKuwait Peace Camp airstrike – The current title is not great: it's not particularly natural, precise or descriptive, but is merely a vague and fairly non-descript geographical handwave. The more natural titling surrounding the event in question has tended to revolve around the nomenclature of "Rafah tent ..." or "Rafah tent camp ..." (with attack/massacre as the operative descriptor) but these options equally lack precision (given there have been numerous tent camp attacks/massacres in Rafah). And yet "Tel al-Sultan" ironically isn't that much of an improvement, since Tel al-Sultan is equally not a specific city block or even neighborhood, but a substantial urban area within Rafah, and the attack also did not even really take place in Tel al-Sultan, but at a temporary tent camp on a previously deserted patch of land to the northeast of some UN warehouses that were themselves located to the northeast of Tel al-Sultan, on the other side of a peripheral ring road. The current title also does not mention either the key words "tent" or "camp" and is entirely obscure, non-descript and wholly unnatural as a search term. By contrast, the "Kuwait Peace Camp" is the precise location of the attack, as first attested by the BBC on 27 May based on the video footage, and confirmed by the Guardian and CNN on 29 May, and used as the principle identifier by Amnesty by 27 August. So this name represents the precise location of the attack and as a bonus contains the keyword "camp", so further specifies the nature of the event. And then "airstrike", because it was an airstrike, so that's precise, and the news coverage largely uses the term "strike". Meanwhile, the use of "attack" in the context is somewhat vague and could be confused with a ground assault, of which there have since been many in the area. • (Discuss)Use of child suicide bombers by Palestinian militant groupsSuicide bombing by minors in the Second Intifada – This page can readily be moved to a much more precise and specific title. The current title is somewhat vague and broad in scope when the topic itself is quite narrow and discrete. The topic in question is suicide bombing by minors in the Second Intifada. "Minors" is more useful here than "child", as it pertains to the internationally defined (and most common) age of legal adulthood as being at 18, and the topic here is bombings by 16 and 17 year olds, so shortly below this legal threshold. The qualitative terminology of "children" or "childhood" is vaguer and conjures up the sense of individuals in their early teens or younger just as readily as it does the sense of those in their late teens but prior to legal maturity. The "Second Intifada" is the very precise and discrete time period in question, the when of the topic and a delineation that should obviously be mentioned in the lead (as part of the WP:NCWWW of the topic). This is very explicitly not a general topic page or broad concept article, but one very specifically linked to said time period. The mention that the subject involves "Palestinian militant groups" is lengthy and unnecessary. This element is naturally outlined as part of the WP:SCOPE in the first sentence of the page, but is in any case implied by the context of the "Second Intifada", which makes it clear that the broader topic is the Israeli–Palestinian conflict, where such tactics in the relevant period were the preserve of only side. This makes the specific mention of this element of the subject fairly redundant and unnecessary in the title. Iskandar323 (talk) 07:57, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
  • (Discuss)Gascon dialectGascon (language variety) – The precise classifcation of Gascon is controversial. While most scholars consider it to be a dialect of Occitan, Posner and Sala note that it is less comprehensible than Catalan (which is typically classified separately from Occitan) to other southern Occitan speakers. Moreover, Gascon has a standardized variety, Aranese, with official status in the Val d'Aran region of Catalonia, which differs from the literary standard of Occitan. Kristol 2023 asserts that Gascon was "already considered a specific language in the Middle Ages," and Carles and Glessgen 2024 refer to Occitan and Gascon as "two languages." As the terms "language" and "dialect" are ambiguous and somewhat subjective, linguists tend to circumvent extralinguistic polemics by using the term "language variety" to refer to a linguistic system. By characterizing Gascon as a "dialect," the current title appears to clash with Misplaced Pages's policy of neutrality by favouring a traditional but contested view. The term "language variety" would be a more useful characterization, as it would avoid the use of the ambiguous term "dialect," which tends to evoke social, historical, and political considerations rather than strictly linguistic ones. • (Discuss)FC Cetatea SuceavaCSM Cetatea Suceava – – After the dissolution of ACS Foresta Suceava in the summer of 2024, the Municipality of Suceava and the most important businessmen from Suceava County re-founded the local club as CSM Cetatea 1932 Suceava (full name). The new entity is considered now as the team of the city and the successor of the local football history.frf-ajf profile, facebook profile, radiotio.ro/foundation, history, local businessman, staff, municipality involvment, continuity. Suceava had only one important football team at one time, during the years, and at this moment the history of local football is very divided on wikipedia. Th football history of Suceava started with Cetatea Suceava in 1932, then in the 1950s and 1960s the team changed its name several times, then was re-founded as a football section of CSM Suceava, multi-sport club, where it was active until 1997, when Foresta Fălticeni, club owned by Eugen Huțu moved to Suceava and was renamed as Foresta Suceava. After 2004, the local club was re-founded as FC Cetatea Suceava (this page) and worked until 2010 when whitdrew from the league. In 2010, Rapid CFR (which was a team from the suburbs) was taking over by the Municipality of Suceava and renamed as ACS Foresta Suceava, the team was dissolved in 2024. Due to this history, I proposed only 3 main pages: 1. CSM Cetatea Suceava (CSM Suceava + FC Cetatea Suceava + Cetatea 1932, one article, keeping the foundation years and the corresponding denomination(s) 2. Foresta Fălticeni remain the same, team originally based in Fălticeni 3. ACS Foresta Suceava, remain the same, team that was known for almost its entire history as Rapid CFR Suceava, another team moved and renamed. The second step will be a merge between Cetatea Suceava (reunited page) and CSM Suceava, but I'll keep the entire history on this page, because Cetatea was the original team of Suceava, CSM was born by the took over of Cetatea (named Chimia at that time), by CSM Suceava multi-sport club. • (Discuss)1925 Tri-State tornadoGreat Tri-State Tornado – This is one of very few, if not the only, tornado where the name itself disambiguates it from others, so let's get rid of the year before it's 100th. Most sources don't use the year as the tornado's title - it's either Tri-State, or Great Tri-State. I'm going to let both be options favoring Great Tri-State so there's less room for ambiguation with other tri-state area tornadoes. Departure– (talk) 21:38, 26 December 2024 (UTC)

He became famous because he died and before that he was a complete unknown. People might say he has been notable in other things but that is only a consequence of being murdered. • (Discuss)Bærum mosque shooting2019 Bærum murder and mosque shooting – Pursuant to the discussion above, which no one responded to: I have been wanting to improve this article for two years, since it is entirely stuck in the breaking news aftermath of when it happened instead of the later coverage, but I am frustrated by its scope, which makes it difficult to reflect what non-breaking news sources cover about this case. While all of the breaking coverage focuses on the mosque shooting, later coverage tends to focus both on Ihle-Hansen's murder (see the books, the docuseries, later news coverage) with about equal weight to the mosque attack. This is a problem because there was a separate motive for the killing of his sister, the background for what lead up to this event heavily involves her, and the more severe sentence Manshaus received was for murdering Ihle-Hansen, not for the failed mosque shooting. This is very close to what the Norwegian wikipedia titles its article on this case. I would title it closer to what the books and documentaries do, but they are usually titled after Manshaus's name. I am open to other suggestions as I know this isn't perfect but I do feel that any title for this article needs to not strictly focus it on the mosque event. The year is optional, but according to WP:NCE if an event is not broadly known it should include the year. This event is not widely known outside of Norway, but if people feel otherwise it could be titled Bærum murder and mosque shooting (edit: a better target would be 2019 Bærum murder and mosque attack, as Cameron suggests) PARAKANYAA (talk) 09:57, 21 December 2024 (UTC)
  • (Discuss)2024 Al-Mustariha massacre2024 Turkish airstrikes in Syria – Consistency. This article should be named like 2024 Homs airstrikes or April 2017 Turkish airstrikes in Syria and Iraq. Because these air strikes are organised for enemy sides of the perpetrator's and some civillians killed in those air strikes. This title means that Turkey only carries out air strike to massacre innocent civilians. However, this airstrike is only one of 191 airstrikes against the SDF-YPG, therefore we cannot seperate this air strike from other 190 air strikes. All of them are carried out within 2024. The content also mentions the death toll from other airstrikes. Also these airstrikes belongs to Hasakah province, Raqqa province and rural Aleppo. This title mentions 11 civilians in Raqqa province but how about other 6 civillian deaths in Hasakah province? If you look at death toll, military personnels also killed besides civillians and this means that Turkish Air Force didn't target civillians especially. Also it's ridiculous to target little amount of civillians in a village. If Turkish Air Force want to kill civillians, bombing big city centers is more efficient way like Israel did in Gaza Strip. Therefore that title is biased and we cannot named this event as a massacre just for killed civillians because more military personnels killed in these air strikes. Seondly, wikipedia there's a village named Mustariha and it's located at Idlib. However news says it's a village in the suburbs of Ain Issa. I cannot find location of the village. It's very interesting. All in all, this article should be moved to "2024 Turkish airstrikes in Syria" However we can use northern Syria but I'm not sure about geographic naming. Note: If the title I propose is appropriate, the content should be revised accordingly, because it gives the impression that the attack was made specifically for this village and targeted especially civillians in this village.--Sabri76' 17:46, 10 December 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 15:10, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
  • (Discuss)Template:NFTemplate:NFLD – Most Canadian provinces have just one flag template named with the province's two-letter postal abbreviation as the template name; this one is a special case because the province's name was changed from just "Newfoundland" to Newfoundland and Labrador in 2001, necessitating separate "NF" and "NL" templates because the province name next to the (same) flag needs to be two different things based on whether it's a pre-2001 or post-2001 context.
    However, because the Spanish Misplaced Pages uses the template name "NF" as its basic "formatting the vital statistics of people on biographical articles" (birth year, death year, defaultsort name, etc.) template, there ends up being a constant need to monitor this template for incorrect "vital stats" uses on articles, drafts and user sandbox pages that have been translated or just copy-pasted over from Spanish.
    So because of that extenuating circumstance, I believe that there's a substantive case for treating this template as a special case that varies from the titles of its other provincial siblings to avoid that problem — and since "NF" is an old, no longer used postal abbreviation rather than the current one, the variant won't be nearly as difficult to justify as it would have been if the conflict were affecting "NL".
    Accordingly, I propose that this template use the province's original postal abbreviation "NFLD" instead of the two-letter transitional form "NF", with all of its (thankfully not that many) uses updated to the new name, and "NF" not retained as a redirect so that we stop having to deal with the flag of Newfoundland being wrongly placed at the bottom of Spanish and Mexican and Latin American biographies.
    Alternatively, if there's a way that "NL" could be coded to enable a "Newfoundland and Labrador" vs. "Newfoundland" switch, we could just add that and move all the NF uses to NL-with-switch, but I wouldn't know how to do that (or even if it's possible), although it might even be a better solution than moving this if it is possible. • (Discuss)Gwon YulGwon Yul (general) – Seems to be a conflict between the two WP:PRIMARYTOPIC criteria. Gwon Yul currently does not meet the criteria for primary topic by usage WP:PT1: of the three ambiguous "Kwon Yul" articles, the army general is last in pageviews. Over the last year, the other two Kwon Yul articles have received an average monthly pageviews of around 15,000, while the army general has received only 1400. However, by WP:PT2 (long term significance), the army general is obviously the primary topic. Given the conflicting criteria, and what seems to be a very large pageview disparity between the army general and the other Kwon Yul articles (army general receiving 10x less traffic), I thought it'd be appropriate to open a discussion to see if the army general is indeed the primary topic or if there is WP:NOPRIMARY here. A move here would also involve retargeting the redirect left at Gwon Yul to Kwon Yul (which is the same name, 권율, just romanized slightly differently) RachelTensions (talk) 13:05, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
  • (Discuss)Unknown Archon → ? – This "Unknown Archon" sounds like this is a proper name, but it's apparently not, this is just uppercase added to a translation of one of the general descriptions used in historiography about this story. The article is a bit of a mess - most of it is the lead section that doesn't actually summarize the body; half the body is a verbatim copy from a 20th-century translation of a 10th-century primary source, and then there's a few paragraphs which kind of say yeah none of this stuff in the lead is necessarily true true. So I don't really know if there's a good name for this topic, or if this small amount of context has potential - should it just be merged into a more general article?
