== Welcome to the 2025 WikiCup! ==
Just out of interest... <small><span style="border:1px solid #0000ff;padding:1px;">] : ] </span></small> 23:09, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

Happy New Year and Happy New WikiCup! The 2025 competition has just begun and all article creators, expanders, improvers and reviewers are welcome to take part. Even if you are a novice editor, we hope the WikiCup will give you a chance to improve your editing skills as you go. If you have already signed up, your submissions page can be found ''']'''. If you have not yet signed up, you can ''']''' and the judges will set up your submissions page ready for you to take part. Any questions on the scoring, rules or anything else should be directed to one of the judges, or posted to the ].
== ] ==

For the 2025 WikiCup, we've implemented ] to the scoring system. The highest-ranking contestants will now receive ] at the end of each round, and final rankings are decided by the number of tournament points each contestant has. If you're busy and can't sign up in January, don't worry: Signups are now open throughout the year. To make things fairer for latecomers, the lowest-scoring contestants will no longer be eliminated at the end of each round.
To clarify, you honestly feel that granting me access to admin tools would be a net negative for the Project? Even before the absence of a good answer to "why", I'm left grasping at straws for "how"! Given my self-imposed restrictions and my extensive history with the site at the ], I cannot see how I would not constitute an acceptable risk, if I must aspire only to that barest of qualifications. <span style="font-family: monospace">]</span>&nbsp;&nbsp;(<span style="font-size: smaller; background: black;">]</span>) 23:27, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

The first round will end on 26 February. The judges for the WikiCup this year are: {{User4|Cwmhiraeth}}, {{User4|Epicgenius}}, {{User4|Frostly}}, {{User4|Guerillero}} and {{User4|Lee Vilenski}}. Good luck! <small>If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from ].</small> ] (]) 00:13, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
:The goal of writing that question was to summarize the concerns opposers would be likely to have, and then to provide direct, concise answers to them. In the case of your concern, I'll contend that as <math>\lim_{content \rightarrow \infin}</math>, Misplaced Pages is or will become far too large for any one administrator to be able to competently administer all areas of the encyclopedia. Specialist administrators are a symptom of that "problem", and applications for general adminship through any other means than artificially contriving to get your RfA approved (read: forcing administrators to do what then amounts to ''work'' in parts of the encyclopedia in which they'd rather not be) will become more and more rare.

About me

Hi there. I've been a sysop here since 2008, and was an oversighter between 2012 and 2019. Most of my substantial edits have been to articles relating to popular culture, which is a fancy way of saying "games, sports and music". More recently I tend to do stuff like adding references to biographies of living persons.

I follow the football teams of my hometown and my country (for my sins). I've lived in the San Francisco Bay Area since 2016.

You can get in touch with me by clicking here, hitting the "new section" or "+" tab in the menubar to the top of this page. If your request requires privacy, please feel free to find me on IRC (as "foks"), or get me via email (if you have an account).

I work for or provide services to the Wikimedia Foundation (as JSutherland (WMF)), but this is my personal account. Edits, statements, or other contributions made from this account are my own, and may not reflect the views of the Foundation.

Welcome to the 2025 WikiCup!

Happy New Year and Happy New WikiCup! The 2025 competition has just begun and all article creators, expanders, improvers and reviewers are welcome to take part. Even if you are a novice editor, we hope the WikiCup will give you a chance to improve your editing skills as you go. If you have already signed up, your submissions page can be found here. If you have not yet signed up, you can add your name here and the judges will set up your submissions page ready for you to take part. Any questions on the scoring, rules or anything else should be directed to one of the judges, or posted to the WikiCup talk page.

For the 2025 WikiCup, we've implemented several changes to the scoring system. The highest-ranking contestants will now receive tournament points at the end of each round, and final rankings are decided by the number of tournament points each contestant has. If you're busy and can't sign up in January, don't worry: Signups are now open throughout the year. To make things fairer for latecomers, the lowest-scoring contestants will no longer be eliminated at the end of each round.

The first round will end on 26 February. The judges for the WikiCup this year are: Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs · email), Epicgenius (talk · contribs · email), Frostly (talk · contribs · email), Guerillero (talk · contribs · email) and Lee Vilenski (talk · contribs · email).
