Urdu is official language of Chitral. Khowar is the majority language of Chitral District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa district, Pakistan. Kalasha is the second language spoken in Ayun, Birir, Bumburet and Rumbur, Persian is also third language spoken in Garam Chashma valley by 2000 population and in Madaklasht valley and spoken small amount in Upper Chitral regions. Urdu and Khowar are both languages of communication.
There are 24 different languages spoken in Chitral including Arabic, Balti, Burushaski, Dameli, Domaaki, Dari, Dangariwar, Gawar-Bati, Kalkoti, Kamviri, Kohistani, Khowar, Kygryz, Munji, Palula, Yidgha, Shekhani, Shina, Tajik, Torwali, Ushojo, Uzbek, Wakhi.
