On November 2, 2023, The Jerusalem Post claimed Owda was a member of Hamas' propaganda team, saying her posts had received attention from "well-known figures associated with antisemitism and conspiracy theories, including Shaun King". They also cited an Instagram post Owda made on October 7, in which she said "For every action, there is a reaction. This means: What was expected after 75 years of occupation and 17 years of siege?" in reference to the Hamas attacks that day, and to her reporting that Israeli forces bombed the Al-Ahli Hospital, and "that Israel was killing people who fled to the south".
Personal life
After the IDF told Gaza residents to evacuate, Owda and her parents relocated from Beit Hanoun to Al-Shifa Hospital. Her family's home and her office in Rimal were both bombed, destroying all of Owda's filming equipment.
Owda witnessed the Al-Shifa ambulance airstrike on November 3, 2023.
