Riiiidge Racer!!

It seems there have been a number of joke edits alluding to Kaz's enthusiastic exclamation of "Riiiidge Racer!!" at the E3 press conference. I don't know what to do about it, but it looks like they're going to continue for a while. *sigh* Dancter 19:44, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

It's just a bit of fun. Like all things wanting to be internet memes it'll wear off in a few weeks. Perks 21:55, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
Is that why it was removed? I think it should be included in the article. I mean, it's all over YouTube. Starwind Amada 13:36, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
It's a ridiculous internet fad that has nothing to do with Kazuo's life. It has no place in this article. -- Daniel Davis 17:49, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
Is there a suitable compromise? Maybe they can be put up on Wikiquote, and linked to from here? Dancter 15:21, 26 May 2006 (UTC) Never mind. Dancter 16:58, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
Nothing to do with his life? That's just false. I think you need to justify why it shouldn't be here in any form and why merely mentioning it is "vandalism". Tigen 20:41, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
What if someone honestly wants to know how the whole RIDGE RACER thing started after seeing a video or something? I dont understand how this isnt part of his life or his job at Sony.--Xerus` 05:11, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

Just like Reggie, Kirai is incredibly enthusastic. There is no reason why we shouldn't inlude a senstence oor two on how enthuastic he is about his job and sony's work, an example being , 'Riiiidge Racer'.

Misplaced Pages is not an indiscriminate collection of information. There are plenty of places on Google to look up stupid pointless internet fads, including this one. If someone is actually looking for this idiotic thing on the internet, chances are they've already got a grasp on "what it is" already. -- Daniel Davis 07:17, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

Got some PMS, Mr. Davis?

Seriously put one of the quotes/edits up and let it go for a while. People won't care in a couple months. Calling it "Vandalism" is a little harsh tho, the guy is getting his 15 minutes of pop culture heroism.67.100.156.10 20:19, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

This is unfair I just got warned for putting ridge racer back.. common its funny why do we have to be so uptight about it and give me a vandalizing warning? Especially when I only did it once —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Nimadude (talkcontribs) 01:18, 27 May 2006 (UTC).

This vandalism of an article I and many others spent many hours working on ceased to be funny the tenth (?) time someone put it in. -- Daniel Davis 01:21, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

Reggie's infamous Kickin' ass and takin' names is in his quotes, so why can't Kaz have his Ridge Racer? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 72.224.5.174 (talkcontribs) 08:00, 25 May 2006 (UTC).

I dont understand why Kaz can't have his quote? Its infamous by now, and he deserves his claim to fame. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 72.224.4.241 (talkcontribs) 08:10, 27 May 2006 (UTC).

I think the page should have a reference to the Ridge Racer thing. It's pretty famous by now. A lot of people think it should be mentioned. I would have to ask, "why not?" It's part of pop culture and part of his job. I'm serious. Sure, the edits where someone spams RIIIDDGE RACER all over the article are vandalism but a mere mention of it is not. Tigen 20:41, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

If so, "lucid dream" and "powered by human energy" should be added to Moores profile here at Wiki, it's also part of the pop culture and his job. No Riiiidge Racer should not be added to this article. Feinstein 01:49, 4 June 2006 (GMT +2)
Are they cults as big as this one, last time they were, they were added, proof? Go to Reggie's page —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 172.188.184.113 (talkcontribs) 11:13, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

Why not just have a small bit about the E3 2006 conference and how its been widely parodied/maligned (for various reasons not tied into the riiiiidge racer meme)? --Bobak 23:49, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

Apparently theres no room for any hints of Ridge Racer humor on Kaz's super serious biography on the almighty wikipedia, sorry. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 72.224.4.134 (talkcontribs) 01:04, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Enough with the ridge racer jokes. Can you imagine how he feels about that? Thats just plain dehumanization (from a certain P.O.V.).

How do you know that Kaz doesn't love playing RIIIIIIIDGE RACER? He certainly seemed enthusiastic about it at E3.71.52.243.126 21:53, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

Kaz loves steak with a bit of RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGE RACERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR on the side :D

Perhaps someone could state what policy precludes the riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidge racer refrence so that this decision seems justifiable? I don't know why its not in the article, and would appreciate knowing why not. Someone alluded to frustration earlier, however; given that those folks who would like to understand the policy decision learn nothing specific from this talk page, its not helpful.

The one guy that linked to some page is appreciated, however; that page is deleted "what wikipedia is not". If someone can either state their objection, or more helpfully what the specific policy prohibition is, that would be dandy.

Misplaced Pages is an action encyclopedia based off of actual world history. Given that its weak point is the human element, I think we should attack these shortcomings with knowledge for the folks who want to learn about policy. Otherwise, the crabs win. --24.29.234.88 (talk) 03:36, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

—He is the reason Sony is going to fail, he must lost his mind to drop backwards compatible PS3s. cutting out 2 usb port and media card reader. I can live with 2 usb port and no media reader, but no PS2 games on PS3? Sony has failed!

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidge Raceeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrr cannot fail! NEVER! --217.203.173.121 (talk) 16:33, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Playstation 3

I think we could add something along the lines of, "Mr. Hirai was the one to announce the PlayStation 3's final price, $599-$499, at Sony's E3 Press Conference." 00:36, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

By all means, add it. A legitimate NPOV addition to this article is always welcomed, especially given the number of joke edits that have been foisted on it lately. -- Daniel Davis 01:24, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

Request photo

This man was at E3. We've gotten images of the PS3 controller, the Wii and its controllers, and Shigeru Miyamoto. Nobody has a free image of Kaz Hirai up on stage? Hbdragon88 17:23, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

Yeah seriously?! Whats up with that?>--64.121.1.55 07:12, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

Uh oh, lots of trouble

The page seems to be getting a lot of vandalism since the news hit Digg. I'm thinking this is going to need to be semi-protected soon. ♠ SG →Talk 18:27, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Death?

Before adding the death remark again, please find a source and mention it too. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.27.54.79 (talk) 05:43, 7 June 2011 (UTC)

Agreed, until there is a reliable source on this, please don't add it again. Also, if there are any admins watching this, a lock might be nice. Cthugha (talk) 10:54, 7 June 2011 (UTC)

Early Years

This line:

His hard work and dedication allowed him to rise through the ranks, eventually placing him once again in New York, where he became head of Sony Computer Entertainment Japan's international business affairs office.

isn't sourced and it reads like boosterism.

I am replacing it with:

He eventually became head of Sony Computer Entertainment Japan's international business affairs office in New York.

Does anyone know what year he become head of the international business affairs office in New York?
