Urdu is the national language spoken widely in Chitral District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa district, Pakistan. Kalasha is the second language spoken in Ayun, Birir, Bumburet and Rumbur, Persian is also third language spoken in Garam Chashma valley by 2000 population and in Madaklasht valley and spoken small amount in Upper Chitral regions.

There are 24 different languages spoken in Chitral including Balti, Burushaski, Dameli, Domaaki, Dari, Dangariwar, Gawar-bati, Kalkoti, Kamviri, Kohistani, Khowar, Kygryz, Munji, Palula, Persian, Yidgha, Wakhi, Shina, Tajik, Torwali, Ushojo, Uzbek, Wakhi.
