1999–2000 San Antonio Spurs season

The 1999–2000 NBA season was the San Antonio Spurs' 24th season in the National Basketball Association, their 27th season as the Spurs, and their 33rd season as a franchise.

After having won their first NBA championship in 1999, when they defeated the New York Knicks in five games in the NBA Finals, the Spurs signed free agents Terry Porter, Samaki Walker and Chucky Brown during the off-season. Sean Elliott received a kidney transplant in August 1999 and missed the first four months of the season. The Spurs won 14 of their first 17 games, including a seven-game winning streak. The team held a 32–17 record at the All-Star break. Tim Duncan and David Robinson were both selected to play in the 2000 NBA All-Star Game, and Duncan and Shaquille O'Neal of the Los Angeles Lakers were named as the most valuable players of the All-Star Game. On March 14, 2000, Elliott returned to play in a 94–79 home win over the Atlanta Hawks.

Shortly before the season ended, Duncan suffered a knee injury. The Spurs finished second in the Midwest Division with a 53–29 record. Without Duncan, they were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the fifth-seeded Phoenix Suns in four games.

For the season, Duncan averaged 23.2 points, 12.4 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game, and was named to the All-NBA First Team and the NBA All-Defensive First Team. Robinson averaged 17.8 points, 9.6 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game, and was selected to the All-NBA Third Team. Duncan also finished in fifth place in Most Valuable Player voting.
