Daulatpur (Bengali: দৌলতপুর (কুষ্টিয়া)) is an upazila of Kushtia District in the Division of Khulna, Bangladesh. Daulatpur Thana was formed in 1854. It became an upazila in 1983.

Geography

Daulatpur is located at 24°00′05″N 88°52′30″E / 24.0014°N 88.8750°E / 24.0014; 88.8750. It has 115,715 households and total area 468.76 km.

Daulatpur Upazila is bounded by Bagha Upazila in Rajshahi District and Lalpur Upazila in Natore District, on the north, Bheramara and Mirpur Upazilas on the east, Gangni Upazila in Meherpur District and Mirpur Upazila in Kushtia District, on the south, and Jalangi CD Block, in Murshidabad district, West Bengal, India, and Karimpur I and Karimpur II CD Blocks, Nadia district, West Bengal, on the west.

As of the 2011 Census of Bangladesh, Daulatpur upazila had 115,715 households and a population of 456,372. 94,590 (20.73%) were under 10 years of age. Daulatpur had an average literacy rate of 41.29%, compared to the national average of 51.8%, and a sex ratio of 1004 females per 1000 males. 19,446 (4.26%) of the population lived in urban areas.

As of the 1991 Bangladesh census, Daulatpur had a population of 360,706. Males constituted 51.42% of the population, and females formed 48.58%. This Upazila's eighteen up population was 178,539. Daulatpur had an average literacy rate of 20.5% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate.

Administration

Daulatpur Upazila is divided into 14 union parishads: Adabaria, Ariaa, Boalia, Chilmari, Daulatpur, Hogalbaria, Khalishakundi, Maricha, Mathurapur, Pearpur, Philipnagar, Pragpur, Ramkrishnapur, and Refaitpur. The union parishads are subdivided into 82 mauzas and 103 villages.
