Promethium(III) sulfide is a binary inorganic compound with the chemical formula Pm2 S3 .
Synthesis
The compound can be prepared by reacting promethium and sulfur in stoichiometric amounts at 500 °C:
2 Pm + 3 S → Pm2 S3
Physical properties
The compound forms garnet red crystals of the orthorhombic system , space group I 43d and exists in α and β forms.
