Promethium(III) sulfide is a binary inorganic compound with the chemical formula Pm₂S₃.

Synthesis

The compound can be prepared by reacting promethium and sulfur in stoichiometric amounts at 500 °C:

2 Pm + 3 S → Pm₂S₃

Physical properties

The compound forms garnet red crystals of the orthorhombic system, space group I43d and exists in α and β forms.
